Strategic needs assessment and benchmarking
Understanding the issues faced by your communities is crucial in improving services and local outcomes.
The OCSI Needs Measurement study was central to the Bedfordshire and Luton Investing in Communities business case to EEDA, resulting in £5M annual funding being awarded to support programmes across the County Jon Billington, IiC Coordinator, Bedfordshire and Luton Economic Partnership
- In Bedfordshire and Luton, OCSI's need assessment study helped make the county's business case to the East of England Development Agency regeneration Investing in Communities programme. Alongside highlighting the areas and communities for targeted support, and benchmarking Bedfordshire & Luton against other areas, we worked with local stakeholders to identify the key strategic themes and gaps in existing provision.
- The Planning4care needs assessment tool developed by OCSI and partners Care Equation is supporting planning and commissioning of future services for old people's social care services in 14 local partnerships. Providing evidence for the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, Planning4care also enables local commissioners assess the impact of different future scenarios on costs and service requirements.
- Together with London Councils, OCSI developed a robust evidence-led approach to distributing resources to voluntary groups across the capital. Agreed by the Leaders of all 33 London Boroughs, the framework is based on detailed analysis of need for London's diverse communities, and helps ensure that resources are targeted to most effectively tackle social exclusion issues.
